I heart info
Have just received our program schedule for the trip! So now I have a reasonable idea of what we'll be doing every day. Quickly scanning the first week of events for museums (very, very few, sadly), I noticed we are given an optional visit to the US Embassy on...you guessed it, July 4. Somehow I think I'd rather enjoy Delhi.

Well, speaking as someone who just visited the National Museum in Delhi on the hottest day of June (109 degrees), you might be glad that you are going somewhere w/super efficient air conditioning. The collection was awesome, but the climate control...well, what can you do in 109 degree weather? Just think of the trip to the Embassy as an unlimited supply of chilled water, and you will start being a patriot.
And don't freak out anymore, you're going to have a blast. This is a fantastic good time I'm having here in Rajasthan. And my host mother is a huge movie fan so we bonded in, like, 10 seconds, and she is taking us to Fanaa next weekend and the opening day of Krrish! Pop-cultural literacy gets you far here, I'm finding. In fact, one of the first things I saw after landing was a TV in the airport, just outside of customs, w/a commercial featuring SRK. So, you will feel very comfortable.
Good luck, enjoy your trip, we'll compare notes when we both get back.
